Pointe Dancing
Pointe is dancing with special shoes called “Pointe Shoes”, also known as “toe shoes”, because you dance up on your toes. Usually, you have to be at least 11 or 12 to start dancing on pointe. You can do it sooner, if your teacher determines that your ankles are ready.
Pointe is used in many ballets, such as, “Copelia”, “The Nutcracker” and “Swan Lake”.
Before dancing pointe you must break your shoes in, by wearing them all the time!
Before taking pointe you should take ballet, just to have technique and some knowledge about dance. I hope you will enjoy pointe as much as I do!
