Mix Flower Tea (五花茶)

Mix Flower Tea is a drink prepared by boiling five different kinds of dried flower to prevent sickness or to cure various diseases. Due to the nature of the flowers used, the taste of the tea is generally sweet with mild bitter.
 

Lonicera japonica (金銀花), plumeria rubra (雞蛋花), dendranthema indicum (金菊花), Bombax ceiba (木棉花) and Cleistocalyx operculatus (水翁花) are the main ingredients of the Mix Flower Tea. It is useful for preventing colds and flu caused by sudden change of weather in summer. It can also help to obtain clear vision, alleviate fever and disperse poison deposited in the body. People may even benefit from smooth urination by drinking the tea.

 
It is suitable for people with dry and heat-trapping body in terms of the Chinese pharmacology. However, people with weak body condition are not suitable for the drink. In addition, people having G-6-PD deficiency should also avoid drinking herb tea with Lonicera japonica (金銀花). People who has the winter flu, affected by colds, sensitive trachea, or stomach pains caused by menstruation are not recommended to try the tea.
