You don’t actually very often see Moles, but you can often see signs of where they have been. They tunnel underground and leave little heaps of soil on their way, so once lots of Moles have been in a field it looks like a war zone! They have very small eyes and ears hidden in their fur, they have a very powerful fore limbs with five strong claws and a hand that is like a shovel. Their fur is velvety and the male’s average size is around 14cms; females are slightly smaller. Moles have a very keen sense of smell and hearing. Males are called boars and females are called sows.
