Any specific area that plants and animals live is called a habitat, for instance a field, a hedge, a pond, a tree etc…. In our case we are looking at plants and animals which live in fields. A habitat is somewhere where things live naturally - so our study won’t include larger animals such as cows and horses or even people!

In this picture habitats shown include grassland, cultivated fields, ponds, the pond banks, bushes, trees, hedgerows and, of course, the sky.
