Service Providers

Service Provider Statistics

Many service providers are available in the world and some of these are MWEB and Telkom which are the major service providers in South Africa. These are the statistics received from BMI-T (which works with South African service providers).

According to this data, we can see that already in 2004 ONE MILLION AND FORTY FOUR THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED AND FIFTY NINE people were using a Dial-up Connection and in 2005 ONE MILLION ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY EIGHT THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED AND THIRY ONE people were using a Dial-up connection. There is an obvious increase in the number of people who signed to a dial-up connection after 2004. Now in the year 2007, there must be a drastic increase in the number of Dial-up users in comparison with the year 2005.

Therefore we can conclude that the Internet has grown substantially from the time it was brought to Africa until now. These figures are of South Africa only and not the other countries in Africa, which means there are many more Internet users in Africa as a whole.

Obviously the increase in Internet users also means a major increase in Computers/Computer Users since not every computer has an Internet connection. With computers being such a huge source of information, many books are bieng made to teach people the Basics of Computers from it's components to it's uses.
