The Minor Arcana of the Tarot deck consist of 56 cards, which are divided into four suits.
These suits are: Wands, Cups, Swords, and Coins (a.k.a. pentacles). The suits are often
associated with the four elements on earth. The wands are associated with the element of
fire, the cups with water, the swords with air (wind), and the coins with earth. Each suit
consists of 14 cards and are very similar to the cards in a modern deck of playing cards.
The suits consist of the Ace (one), 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Knight (Jack), Queen, and
King, with the addition of one more card: The Page (which places between the 10 and the King).
The Minor Cards are different from the Major Arcana cards in that though they do have individual
meanings, their meanings are consistent with the themes of each suit. For example, many
cards in the wands deck have something to do with passion or will, which is commonly
associated with fire.
