Anne's Diary
Today we fed the pigs and chickens with grain and then we had a snack. After that we had to herd the sheep into an area where they would get dewormed.

This means that we have to give them medicine so they wouldn’t get worms in their stomach.
Oops! Since Turner Farm deworms their sheep the sheep are not organic. The farmers at Turner Farm deworm their sheep because, even though they won't be organic, the farmers believe they will be healthier. |
It was a big disaster. Caleb and I were herding two runaway sheep. Then Caleb saw the others needed help and left me with the two sheep. I herded the sheep for a while but they got away. The bad thing was they went back to the start. I waited until the sheep were grazing. Then I went to get help. Bonnie came on the golf cart. Then Bonnie called two other men. They found another sheep and lead it to the others. We all tried to herd the sheep into a corner but it didn’t work. At least I got to ride the golf cart! Then Bonnie took me to the others because the men had to make paths out of gates into the corner and then put the sheep on the golf cart, which looked very funny. Then I helped deworm the sheep. After that we put the sheep in another pasture so the pastures don’t get holes, which would be very dangerous for the sheep, especially the lambs.
Then we had lunch and played in the sprinkler. After lunch we planted bugweed, which is a cover crop, and watched Caleb harvest potatoes. He had hitched two draft horses to a machine that dug up the ground so that the potatoes lay on top of the ground. It was a very hard day.
