Sandra Dee 1942-2005
Sandra Dee was born as Alexandria Zuck in Bayonne, New Jersey on April 23, 1942. Her mother wanted her to have a career in show business and would often lie about her daughters age to get Sandy where she wanted to go. One way she did this was by enrolling her daughter in school early so she could have a head start. By the time Sandy started second grade she was only four years old. Sandy was a very beautiful young lady which allowed her to get into the modeling business. By the time she was 12 years old she was already successful in this area. Due to her modeling career she was able to be in TV commercials for local companies. When Sandy was 14 years old she was signed to do a movie, Until They Sail. The movie didn’t hit the top of the charts but it made her known in the world of show business. In 1958 she was signed to do two more movies, The Reluctant Debutante and The Restless Years. In 1959 she starred in five movies with Gidget and A Summer Place being the most popular. The only movie Sandy appeared in during 1960 was Portrait in Black. During December of 1960 Sandy married Bobby Darin which caused many teenage boys to be heartbroken. However, once again, her career took off. In 1961 she starred in Come September, Romanoff and Juliet, and Tammy Tell Me True. By 1963 her career began slowing down she still manage to star in a few more films, with her last one being Lost in 1983. Sandy died of kidney complications of February 20, 2005.
