Trafficking

Human trafficking can also be known as trafficking in persons. It is one of the most major human rights issues today. It’s the third largest and fastest growing criminal industry in the world. Traffickers can be anyone: Families, individuals, or an organized group of criminals. Most countries are involved with human trafficking. Millions of people all over the world are victimized every year. A great amount of human traffickers are in vulnerable populations of migrants, minorities, runaway, or abused children, and the poor. There has not been a lot of research, disagreement about what human trafficking actually is and it has made things difficult to solve the problem.

According to the United States Central Intelligence Agency, 50,000 people are sent to America as a sex slave, domestic, garment, and agricultural slave. In the year of 2005 there was a campaign about trafficking crimes and victims in the United States by the United State’s Government. Prostitution is an offense according to the Uniform Code of Military Justice. The Department of Defense (DOD) has a program cautioning people about trafficking because they want to catch attention from the criminals and human consequences about trafficking. Anyone and everyone who is in the military or apart of the Department of Defense have to attend to the program by the end of the year (2006). Improvement is still needed on trafficking for the borders of the United States. More effort should be put forth to make sure that the trafficking victims have time so that they can exchange their ideas and opinions. There are victim protection services for the United States citizens who are trafficked victims. It is mainly for the citizens in the United States that are under 18 and it should be more across country then just in the United States.

Child

Child BoundChild slavery exists throughout the world and it has become an issue that needs to be taking care of because every year we are loosing more children to slavery. Their own parents because of the lack of money and recourses to survive are selling most of these children. If not sold then the children themselves are being tricked into servitudes. If not in this two ways then they are being kidnapped and being obligated to do things against their will.

Just in Asia alone 1 million of people are being submitted into prostitution. Most of these children’s parents don’t have enough money to live because they get paid under $1 a day. The only outlet they have is to sell their one child who is most strong and capable to do more work for a couple of thousand dollars. Most of these children are girl and these girls are put to prostitution. One girl’s virginity can be sold for as much as three thousand five hundred dollars.

Going around the world there is also slavery occurring in South America. Here there is mostly girl slaver going on. Most of these kids are being told to beg in corners of grocery stores and another number of places. But like in Asia, here too sexual slaves are increasing each year. A high level issue in South America is the trafficking of babies and children. These kids are being sold to families that are not able to have children of their own and therefore buy a baby again for a couple of thousand dollars.
