SERVING THE COMMUNITY
Our community today is
filled with fatherless children, drugs and epidemics that makes
the world we live in today an unhappy place to live. But there is
help for every problem that one faces. Today many people serve their
community by doing projects to aid it. Whether it is repainting
an old house or helping a mom by watching her child while she goes
to work, these individuals assist the community everyday. But these
people can’t do it alone. It takes everyone. People need to
get out and serve because the world needs you. It has nothing to
do with getting anything in return; it has to do with knowing that
you gave your part while you were on this earth. Receiving a smile
from helping someone may be better than a couple dollars. Our communities
are in need of help and you have an opportunity to do it. Maybe
slavery wouldn’t have lasted so long if we had someone to
step up and say that this was wrong.
A BETTER WORLD
Today’s world is
filled with terrorism, crime, drug abuse and sadness. One epidemic
that the world is filled with is racism. Racism divides us rather
than bringing us together. When will the world go back to a time
where everyone gets along and everything is right? Almost everyone
is the world feels alone and sad. We need to all come together and
see what the real problems are in the world. Families need to go
back to taking care of each other and spending more time together.
We need to help those in need rather than turning them away telling
them that their life is up to them. No one has ever gone through
life with no help, so why do we refuse to give help to others. We
need to go back to clothing the poor and feeding the hungry. But
why don’t we now? Everything is about money and how we can
make a buck. When you die are you going to the money with you? When
you leave this world the only thing you leave behind you is your
self-respect and how you helped others. Slavery was because people
were selfish and wanted to make a quick dollar rather than caring
about others feelings. Because of yesterday’s decisions, we
continue to go down the spiral to nowhere. You may ask yourself,
I’m just one person how can I help? It is very simple! Go
to your local shelter and see if they need any assistance. Tutor
a child who doesn’t get his or her math homework. Walk and
elderly person across the street or reach real high on a shelf to
get an item they may need. There are countless things you can do
to help the world. It doesn’t even have to be with people.
Plant a tree; pick up a piece of trash. You can sit here all day
and name things but naming things isn’t getting the job done.
We must act. The more we continue to sit and do nothing is how much
were going to get out of life. Nothing. So ask yourself, have you
helped your world today?
STOPPING RASCISM
Racism
is defined as attitudes, practices and other factors that disadvantage
people because of their race, color or ethnicity. Racism can be
directed against any race, color or ethnicity. Racism divides us
rather than bringing us together. Why do we have prejudices about
one another? Is it because we don’t like each other cause
others don’t like them? Or is it because were jealous or wish
we could be like them. Today many nations are divided, and not just
by land placement. People don’t see today that we are all
the same. We share the same world; we all have five toes and five
fingers. So why do we constantly fight with one another. When we
finally realize that everyone in the world is equal and that no
one is better than another, then we will conclude that we should
be helping each other rather than brining each other down.
