About Ilona

My name is Ilona and I reside in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I am a junior. For fun I like to read and write poetry and, read novels, write short stories, listen to music, and hang out with my friends. At school, I am enlisted in the AFJROTC (Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps), which I find quite enjoyable. In addition to being a cadet, I am also involved in many different extracurricular activities in the JROTC such as the Drum Core, Drill Team, Saber Team, Rifle Team, Color Guard, Honor Guard, Dragon Boat Team, and Kitty Hawk. I love being in all these different activities because they keep me occupied and prevent me from falling into mischief. Also, I go to my school in the summertime to help renovate our academy and prepare for the upcoming school year.

In school, I tried to maintain good grades last school year but it was a little challenging for me because I got side tracked. In the end, after striving really hard, all I could end up with was a 3.2 GPA but at least that is better than a 2.0. My goals for the upcoming school year is to work to the best of my ability because I know if I maintain a GPA of 3.2 there is a huge chance that I will not get into a good college. Though I am not sure exactly what to go attend, I do know that it has to be better than a community college. I want to a college of high standards so I can better myself in the future. When I grow up, I want to be either a pilot in the Air Force or an English teacher. I choose these two professions because I’ve gained a new interest for aircraft and English has always been a first love for me. Hopefully I will achieve these goals that I’ve planned for myself.

This is my first time participating the ThinkQuest International Competition so it has been a little challenging for me but I made sure that I put forth my best effort to accomplish any task that had to be completed. In addition, this has been challenging for me because I've had little experience with working with computers on this level, so everything I learned was brand new. Even if the website put together by my group doesn’t win the competition, I will still remember all the work that was put forth because it was a learning experience I feel can never be replaced nor forgotten.
