About Us

Team Pic

Our team first started in the summer of 2006. Only two of the members knew each other and it was very nice to meet new people and also work with them. We had five weeks to work on this website and we worked everyday including the weekends. On the week days we worked from 1-5 in the afternoon. At night we worked from 8-9:30. On the weekends we worked from 3-5. Our team is made up of many cultures and religions.

Our team members are all from different areas of the state. These areas are about an hour away and it was very difficult to keep in touch. With the team leader being a senior and everyone else being in different grades others had other things on their agenda to do. We had a team of 5 and there were only 2 with computers. One member had to travel to a local library because she didn’t have a computer at home. The others had to use their computer lab at school. The other had to wait until the meetings we had that were every other week. Our team webmaster made all the updates and uploaded our website.

One of the members was a researcher. They had to find information to put on the site. We had two writers that put information on the website. Finding a general area to work on the website was also hard. With everyone lives about an hour away from each other so finding when and where to work was very hard. We finally settled down to meeting at the University to meet at so that we could make sure everyone had use of a computer. Also one of the members didn’t have a ride to the university and one of the members had to pick him up.

Even though we didn’t all have computers we didn’t let this adversity stop us. The team was required to write down the information into a composition book and when we got together we discussed the information and typed it for the site. We have seen a big change in all of us. We have become more intelligent in this area and also more powerful. Knowledge is power and we have enough to show the world the real reasons for this epidemic that still goes on today. We have gained so much working on this website, not just with technology, but also within ourselves to know that we are capable of working on pieces of materials that can help change the world.

We want to thank our professor and ThinkQuest for giving us this opportunity to explore areas of the real enslavement and also about ourselves. This experience was a rewarding one and one we all hope to take with us forever.
