1829-1850

Britain abolished all slavery but it would only be in effect in the up coming year. Philadelphia hosts the first anti slavery convention. Slaves had to be accompanied by their master when they went to a home of a family that was free because masters were scared they would run away. The American Anti-Slavery Society deals with the issues of women in society. In Pennsylvania all blacks lost the right to vote. Slave riots began to escalate again and more laws were established in order to prevent this.Free citizens for blacks were denied. Slavery was also prohibited by Oregon. Along with stopping African Americans from believing in their own religion they also said that if they did, they would never be freed.
Connecticut completely abolished slavery from their state. Blacks in Philadelphia have a big raid when one black defends himself from a white man. The Free Soil Party is formed out of the Republican Party. Restraints were removed from interstate slave trade by Tennessee. A law was passed saying that no slave could testify any case in a courtroom because they were property and not legal citizens of the US.
