
Ceres
The dwarf planet, Ceres, can be found in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. It is about 950 km in diameter and is largest object in the asteroid belt, but the smallest dwarf planet in the solar system. Unlike all the other asteroids, Ceres is very much spherical and like the rest of the planets. The name Ceres, originates from the Roman goddess Ceres who is the goddess of plants and mother like love. It was discovered by a man named Giuseppe Piazzi on the 1st of January 1801. Until 2006 it was called an asteroid.
