Brainstorming & Storyboarding

We thought of different topics and picked one. We decided what we wanted to do, then we made a storyboard (drawing) of the way the pages would look and how they would link.

Conducting Research

We looked on the Internet, in books, magazines, and in newspapers. We collected information. We wrote for permission if there was a picture or some something we wanted to use.

Making Web Pages

We learned how to use the software, then we practiced. We chose which pages we wanted to work on, and we started making our web site.

Our Pacific Rim Study

We found out about marine debris found in different countries around the Pacific Rim. We tried to find some reasons for the similarities and differences that we found.

Our Community Awareness Project

We had a marine debris poster contest at our school, and displayed the posters at our community library. We had a penny drive, and donated the money to the International Coastal Cleanup.

Our Field Trips

We took field trips to local beaches on Oahu to take pictures of and collect marine debris. We wanted to see what was really out there on our shores.

Finishing Up

We checked the links and permissions, and made games and more graphics. We added different languages so that more people from different countries could read our pages.
