    • The internal conflict in Sierra Leone officially ended in January, 2002. With this, child soldiers seemed to not exist anymore in Sierra Leone, proving that ending the internal conflict ends the need for child soldiers

    • DDR programs have failed to address the needs of thousands of women and girls across the countr
    • The Special Court of Sierra Leone has indicted multiple leaders of crimes towards humanity and for the use of child soldiers
    • An unknown number of child soldiers were demobilized from faction groups throughout the country
    • More than 300,000 thousand displaced people have returned to their homes after 2004
    • In August 2003, all major threats for internal conflict ended due to the resignation of the President who was charged for crimes against humanity
