"I want to tell you about my other country too! It is Pakistan. My Father is from Pakistan and I have spent summers with my family there. In Pakistan it is very HOT. We had a big house in Pakistan and my aunt lives on the same street. From my house I could can see a lot of trees, houses, stores and people. I love the land of Pakistan. Pakistan does not have as much money as Germany and it has a lot of problems. That is why it is especially important to help Pakistan. "

Pakistan has 158 million people, it is one of the fastest growing countries in the world. It has the sixth biggest amount of people in the world. Only 50% of the country is literate, 17% live below the poverty line, and only 28% of the population can get to a doctor. Pakistan is trying to improve their economy. From this we can see Pakistan is not a major contributor to global warming, but it is one of the fastest growing countries. Pakistan will need a lot of support to improve their economy without damaging the earth. Pakistan will also need other countries to lead the way in stopping global warming by humans.

One of the problems Pakistan has that is related to climate change is a shortage of water. This is one of its biggest problems. Some people have suggested melting the glaciers to provide fresh water to areas in Pakistan that are in the middle of a drought. Scientist think this would not impact the enviroment in a bad way.

The most important piece of information I found on Pakistan concerning global warming is a scientific project which studied tree rings in the northern mountains. Why study tree rings in Pakistan? Tree rings can tell a scientist a lot about the weather and the water cycle. The rings can be counted for the exact age of the tree and the size of the ring tells the scientists how much moisture was in the climate that particular year. The scientists found the mountains in Pakistan are much wetter than they have been in centuries before, but yet there is less water. The scientists from the Swiss Federal Research Institute think this could be linked to global warming. The scientists studied tree rings from different centuries and drew conclusions that this could be tied to global warming by humans. The study was controversial because other scientists believe how water settles over different regions does not always indicate a change in cliumate. Still the trees hold some answers as to how Pakistan has adapted to climate change. This could be important if Pakistan is going to develop ways to deal with climate change.

Another interesting fact I found when I looked up global warming on the internet was a very interesting story about a Trans-Global highway that would run through Pakistan. Just the fact someone could think about this is amazing, but what was interesting to me was how it would effect the environment in Pakistan. In theory this highway would be a bridge for business, it could provide rail transportation minimizing the use for cars and airplanes, and more importantly to Pakistan, bring fresh water from melting glaciers to this dcountry and other countries desperately in need of water. So if the world could harness these glaciers then the Artic currents would not be impacted by the warming trend and they could continue to bring warm water to the planet. Mayb e harnessing the melting glaciers and transporting water to place in drought is a solution we can think about to solve some problems now.
