National Impact: Global Warming in America

The United States is the main producer of carbon emissions in the world. It produces twenty-five percent of the world's carbon dioxide, but in the U.S. believe global warming is a lie. In 2003, Republican Senator James Inhofe of Oklahoma stated, "Man-made global warming is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people." At the summit in Paris earlier this year (which the U.S. did not go to) scientist declared people are making global warming worse. Yet people are still not convinced. When Al Gore met with Congress on March 21, 2007 a Texas Representative, Joe Barton, the leading Republican on the House Energy & Commerce, argued with Al Gore and said, "Global warming science is uneven and evolving."

If all the people aren't convinced that global warming is real, how are we going to convince the lawmakers and the government? Maybe facts such as the ones below will open their eyes.
