Coaches
Miss. Solafa Alabed is our and computer club Trainer at Al Mafraq High School. She was also our dedicated team coach before the contest even began. Miss Solafa Informed us about the contest and encouraged us to join the contest, she was all the time with us, every week at least 3 times during the break we go to the Computer lab and meet her: she used to welcome us and keep her updated with the work we did , she always give us her notices about our work .
We faced some problem
like : shortage of time ,but miss Solafa helped us to over come this
problem Disturbuting the work between us to finish the work on time
When the contest began, she and Ms. Huda, our assistant coach, were
constantly encouraging us. During mid year holiday we were contacting by
sending emails like the design for the Web ,the list of topics and
information we found ,in addition she gave us her Mobile number , she was
ready to answer our phone calls to
When we needed To the activities during the open day , distribute the
Newsletters and surveys Miss Solafa was comminuting with our School Admin
and take for us the necessary permission . She also provided us with
guidelines for citing sources and made sure we included everything we
needed. We are thankful for our coaches and the contributions they made to
the team. By preparing us to build a website, finding sources for us to
use, providing guidelines for us to follow, and encouraging us to work
harder.
Team Formation and
communication
Although our group Is in one school, we don't see each other often. This is because we are in different sections and we do the main work at home during weekends and Holidays ,because during school days its hard to do the job with all the homework's and Exams
We all had each others' email addresses, of course, and home and cell phone numbers for emergencies.
How did we meet, you ask? Well during school time we meet in the computer lab with our Trainer Miss Solafa , and During Mid Year Holiday we were chatting with each other via MSN Messenger to discuss . Weekly meetings in Computer Lab with Miss Solafa and we used mail.ae to send the work each of us did( Collected information , Template design ,….) this kept everyone updated on the progress of the site.
Some Challenges :
Maha was a beginner in using flash , but she used to set with her Wadha ,who was good on using flash. Wadha was teaching Maha how to be more professional in Flash , both Maha and Wadha we accessing many Sites teaching flash to lean more .
The biggest challenge was the language , the information we collected was in Arabic language , Iman good in English so she helped us in translating the information we found , in addition ,she depend on some translating sites like : Tarjim .com
* Some needed program wasn't available ,but our Iman asked her father for these programs he make them available for us
*this team has some diversity in country: one of them from Egypt , this helped the team to take an ideas about the environment not only in the UAE environment ,and to see how they work there to save environment .
*Also the team has diversity on their IT interest: some like web designing, some like searching web and some like Image designing, this was so helpful to make all the site elements available
* Not all the team members have the same level in English
Specific Roles
Iman
Translator Whenever we were done with a topic, we sent it to her for editing and translating.
Maha
Flash Designer, she was responsible to direct all the activities which are done in the school : like Paper recycling ,and during the open day she was responsible in directing the Team
Wadha
Web designer she has abilities to create the website for our content. she designed the layout for the site, making banners, icons and links, she is expert in Photoshop , the banner of the site was Designed by her
Shaima
Researcher , she came up with different topics for research. She also wrote the references of the site , she was helping Maha During the activities
