Men vs. Women

Wedding in Saudi Arabia are always held at night but the ceremony is done in the morning with only close family. At night everyone gets dressed in there clothes and goes to the wedding party. The weddings there are always separated into men and women. In one hall the men would sit and chat till the groom shows up and greets the.
In the other hall the women would sit and chat till the ceremony starts. The ceremony is only held for the women because the bride has to cover up if there are strange men around.

Women

In Saudi Arabia traditionally a women would always wear a really long white or bright colored dress. Women usually always wear white because it stands for purity in there religion. The dress always has a tail on the back that is 1 m long or more if wanted. The dress is always short sleeved and very long. The women always wear high heels to make the look taller and to stop the dress from ripping at the bottom. The dress is usually matched with a tiara and a veil. The tiara will be attached at the top of the hair and the veil would be attached on it. The veil is always white and it is never put in front of the women's face it is only worn to the back. This is part of there religion since it’s a sign of disrespect for a bride to cover her face on wedding nights. The bride’s hair is usually always worn up since the tiara has to be attached to it.

All the other women that come to the wedding always wear really petty dresses and they get there hair done to suit the style of there dress. All the women wear high heeled shoes to make them look more feminine and chic.

Men

The groom in Saudi Arabia always wears a dress called a thebe. The thobe is a white cotton or polyester dress that has long sleeves and a turtle neck. It is worn with a black cloak with a gold lining going around the edges. The groom also wears an item called a ghutra which is a piece which is plain white. It is held down by a doubled cord and holds the ghutra down. This is what a groom wears to his wedding.

Other guests who come would wear the same thing as the groom but they wouldn’t have a cloak on. The cloak is mainly worn by the groom because it specifies him as the special person of the night.
