School Clothing

          Some schools in Brazil have either uniforms (public and private) or the students wear what they want (private). Girls in school need to either wear the school uniform or the clothes of her choice. The school uniform is usually very simple. If it’s a hot day, she would probably wear shorts made of Lycra and a plain white T-shirt, always with the school logo. If she prefers, she can wear a skirt that is skirt on front and shorts on the back. If it’s a cold day, she would wear long pants with the same kind of shirt. The shoes are usually a pair of sneakers, and some times, sandals closed at the front and back.

Party Clothing

          There are two different types of parties in Brazil: there are the formal parties (like a wedding) or the birthday parties, which are usually teenagers parties. When girls got to a wedding, they need to be presentable. So she would wear a dress, which is not too long, with “fun” colors, like pink, red, blue, yellow. The shoes are called the “doll shoes”, which are flat black shoes. Teenagers can wear high-heels. The hair can be arranged the way that she wants it to be, although they prefer to wear their hair down. When she is going to a birthday party, they would usually wear clothes that they feel comfortable with: a pair of jeans with a normal T-shirt and a pair of either casual sandals or high-heels.

Beach Wear

          At the beach, girls usually wear either bikinis or swimsuits. For kids, they all have “fun” colors and drawings. But for teenagers, they are all very simple, sometimes with just one color. The kids usually wear nothing on top of the swimsuit. The teenagers wear a kind of a dress, which is very light and simple. Or they can wear a canga, which is a long and wide piece of fabric, which they can wrap around themselves and lay down at the sand with it as well. The shoes are just sandals, called Havaianas, and each person has a different color and/or design.

Boy

School Clothing

          Boys wear pretty much the same thing as girls. On hot days, they wear shorts with a T-shirt with the school logo. On cold days, they wear pants with the same T-shirt. The shoes are just sneakers. They are allowed to wear caps but not in class.

Party Clothing

          At a wedding, he would wear a black or grey suit, with a plain white shirt under it, and a colorful tie (just for teenagers). The shoes would be a pair of plain black shoes with white socks. For a teenager’s birthday, he would wear a pair of jeans, with a T-shirt either with one color or some drawings. The shoes are just a pair of sneakers, different than those that they wear to school.

Beach Wear

          Boys wear either speedos or board shorts both very simple, almost every time one color with the brand logo at the side. They also wear Havaianas’s sandals but there is also another type of sandals that are made for men called Raider. Men usually wear a shirt and beach shorts on top of the swimsuit.
