What do we need for this experiment?

Beaker

Graduated cylinder

String

Red food coloring

Scissors

Kettle

Cold water

Hot water

Some Flour

Hair-dryer

A small model of village

Empty saltshaker

We are including the photographs   of the experiment in order.

Setting up the volcano:

Cut a piece of string about 30 cm long. Tie one end of it firmly around the neck of the bottle, leaving the other and free.

Tie the other end of the string to the piece tied around the neck of the bottle, to make a loop of string for a handle.

Fill the large jar with water from a tap or jag. Don’t fill it right to the top, as you need space to lower the bottle into it.

We boiled the water in the kettle. Then pour the water into the beaker. Drop in food color. Yağmur filled the graduated cylinder with cold water and slowly Ata put the beaker into the graduated cylinder. The hot water shoots up into the cold water like a volcano. Soon all the hot water will rise to the top of the jar. The cold water turned to red.

We poured some of the colored water into our model volcano. We spread some flour over the model village. Then filled the saltshaker with water and pretended it rained over the model village.

With the help of the hair-dryer we created wind. Flour was used as ashes.

All the ashes were spread everywhere over the village.

Cloud Callout: I am about to erupt.
Cloud Callout: I am flour. They used me as ash.
Cloud Callout: I am a saltshaker. They used me for rain.

Cloud Callout: I am a hair-dryer. They used me for wind.

Special thanks to Mr. Leigh Newton for helping us in the Science Lab.
