About Us

Who protects the nation of the United States of America? Even though the President of the United States is the Commander in Chief over the military, it is the soldiers who do the real work. The United States military is under the Department of Defense. But who or what is the Department of Defense? Since September 11, 2001, the national security of the United States has been a major concern in fighting the war on terriorism. The Department of Defense is part of the President's fifteen Cabinet members. The DOD is the largest employer in the United States. The DOD is located at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. "The primary job of the military departments is to train and equip their personnel to perform warfighting, peacekeeping and humanitarian/disaster assistance tasks."
