Singapore would also want to promote religious harmony. Usually, people in Singapore are encouraged to mix with friends of different races and religions. We feel that not only Singapore should promote religious harmony, other countries should do the same too. With the understanding of one another’s differences, we could minimize misunderstandings, and thus brings peace to the World by not fighting a war between countries due to religious conflicts. One should also try to understand that every culture has its own rich historical tradition which all should be proud of. One should speak in a language that could be easily understood by all different races, such as English. We should also try to respect the special restrictions and differences that some races have because of their religion beliefs. For example, the Muslims, are not allowed eat pork and some of the Buddhists, are not allowed to take beef. Thus, we should respect the rights of different races by not laughing at the beliefs and customs of them. We should also make an effort to know others’ religions beliefs and customs, so as to minimize misconceptions.

 

By understanding the fact that people of different religions have their own sets of beliefs, people will try to be more sensitive towards others’ religion practices and thereby, reduces the possibility of religious riots which are actually unhealthy for the people and the country.

Harmony between races is important. Without harmony, there may be chaos and fights between one race and another. As the population of the Earth is growing, more and more people are choosing to believe in different religions. If we do not know about the differences between one another’s religion, misunderstandings may arise and cause fights. Just like a rainbow is made up of 7 colours. Without the 7 colours, a rainbow will not exist as a rainbow, but will exist as a single colour itself.

 

Thus, Singapore is much like a rainbow. It is a multi-religious country with the 7 major religions together in one country. If the 7 religions are not together as one, Singapore will not exist as Singapore. In fact, with every important national events, the leaders of the 7 religions would gather together and bless the event together. As people are the main resource of Singapore, it is very important for the 7 religions in Singapore to live in harmony. Thus, racial harmony among the races is highly important.
