Test for the bride

In official suits there was more time to evaluate the bride. The manner of her entertaining, the way she walks, the color of the tea which she brings, the sweetness of the juice she serves and etc. Sometimes they would take some vegetables specially herbs and ask her to clean them or ask her to saw some kind of sack for putting money. Sometimes an older lay of the groom side asked for ghalyoon, ( a device for smoking tobacco) and the bride was supposed to use the best tobacco and bring it to the lady. This way the bride had to be accepted in all the parts of the test.

 At this time a lady from the grooom's side would ask for some tea in order to see the bride. The bride would go inside with the tray of tea and the ladies would look at her very closely. First the appearance of the bride would be concidered . They liked girls who were very simple without any make up.

In this kind of suit the groom's side would look at everything about the bride, the house, the parents, the way of being dressed, the decorations of the house, the neatness and the behaviour of the family.

 

Evaluating the bride's economic status

In those days the two families were informed about the economic status of each other and sometimes this was a good reason for them to choose one another. Those days the rich people had front doors made of bricks but the ordinary people had front doors made of mould. The ladies from the groom side were very precise and would look at every place of the house with their curious eyes and would pay lots of attention to the manner in which the bride entertained them.

Now it's time to investigate about the style of reception of the bride and her family. If the bride is a good house wife, does she know how to entertain her guests. At the time of farewell they would hug and kiss the bride to know if her mouth or body smells. Then the two families would tell the match makers about their decision.

 

Bride' s Etiquette

Again the ladies gather and go to the bride's house with sweets, sugar plums. Bride's mother asks her to bring tea or soft drinks and the bride who has turned red because of being very shy enters the room with the tray of the drinks and says Hello in a very quiet voice which shows her nobelity.
