 Grandparent's espousal ceremony:

Elder relatives of both families, one week before the espousl ceremony, used to go guests' houses with a hand kerchief full of comfits. they used to unknit the hand kerchief and give them all sweets.then they would have been explaining the reason why they were there and giving comfits, at the end they were inviting them all to the espousal ceremony. In old times, they used to put all the tings that groom had been bought for the espousal ceremony, in big trays and they were taken to brid's house by some people who used to put these trays on these trays on their heads and carry tem to bride's house.thisev custom still exist in some traditional families.they used to put all the espousal's purchases on these tays while this arrangements itself hand special order, and were taken to brides house the night before the espousal ceremony,and all the way to her house they used to burn espand and show their happiness.groom's family also accompanied them.

After espousal's ceremony, brides family used to express their needs and it was written underneath the marring contract . for example they used to set conditions like :Man can not marry an other woman or abut the house that the couple were going to live , and it was decided by the bride.

 

First visit:

 Our grandparents only have got the permission to visit each other in private after the wedding. Groom was takrn to bride while he was a com panied by his uncle. Then those who wear acompanging him to the bride's room used to scatter comfits, coins and sweets on the couples heads and then leaving the newlyweds alone.

 

Beliefs about the first encounter:

They used to say different things about the first encounter after the wedding that they may lead to couples happiness. Parents usually thought their children about these biefs. These customes are mentioned hereunder:- the first thing that the groom must do , is to put his right foot on the bride toe and press it . they believed that it make the bride obey her husband and always listem to him. This was also recommended to the bride as well and sometimes she anticipated the groom. -at first bride had to look into groom's eyes, in order to possibility of other having crushes on him. -the first look at each other's face was through a mirror so that no grief or displeasure would not find its way to their lives together. -groom had to take the bride's hand and put it under his hand so that she always obeys him. Gifts that wear given to the bride so that she would say the first words to the groom was called , zire lafzi and also

 

for yhe bride to take off her ueil and show her face to the groom was called roo name these gifts were usually coins or jewels. And groom used to give them to the bride in order to get to see the bride's face and hear her voice. After the espousal ceremony , if it was appointed that , bride had to stay at his father's house for a time being, bride's family used to send trays full of fruits and sweets to the groom's house. This was a sign of letting groom to come and go to the bride's house and bride's family were quite aware of this fact that groom might have been missing the bride so much.
