MySpace

MySpace™ was created by Tom Anderson in July 2003 as a way to connect to friends.   The service is now owned by News Corporation™, a multimedia company which also owns Fox Broadcasting.  A musician may also create a MySpace™ in order to share his music and receive feedback.

The appeal of MySpace™ comes in with its myriad networking features.   The user is allowed to create and modify his own profile, complete with personal information, “Friend Space,” blogs, and photographs.   These friends can leave notes to the user on his entire profile, as well as on specific photos and blog entries.   Users can elect to join groups, assemblies of people with a common interest, and post “bulletins,” temporary blog entries, for all his friends to see.

MySpace™ places a minimum age of 14 on users who want to employ their service and automatically restricts access to that user’s profile without the user’s permission.   MySpace™ has taken strides to achieve maximum security for its users, but their attempts have proved futile.
