Equipment in the army

In the army you were given equipment. One piece of equipment is a Flint Lock Musket. This was obviously used to fire at the enemy but was not a very accurate gun. It fired round balls of lead. Another piece of equipment is a bayonet. This was a long knife that was put on the front of your musket. For your musket you were given a cartridge box witch you put all of your ammunition in.
Those were pieces of equipment that you were given to fight the enemy. You were also given equipment that was for your camp life. These items were also used to keep you alive.
One of these items is a canteen. This was usually was made of wood and was to keep water in so you can carry it around with you. You were also given a haversack that was used to carry food and small items. It was made out of linen and had a three button flap. To sleep at night you were given a knapsack that was painted to keep it water proof. It was made out of linen of canvas. Sometimes soldiers were given extra items such as cards, candles, extra clothes, and shoes.
