What you shouldn't miss

Four countries, four different time zones

The movie clip that introduces our website is our own original piece of work. We worked in Adobe Photoshop and Flash to come up with this ingenious way to set the user thinking on web credibility. The template used for this site was created from scratch using Dreamweaver 8. The novel design that you see is the brainchild of our team. Also look out for the original artwork we’ve put on our banners on every page. The smiling faces that greet you on the homepage are our friends who didn’t mind posing for a snap or two (with a blank white placard in their hands!!)
Let’s talk music. Given that we have a bass guitarist cum keyboardist on the team, music had to be a part of our website. This Indian guy in Singapore wrote music on a Chinese scale using a keyboard of American make and Swedish software. You’ll get to hear these truly global original compositions by him on this site. |

Using SurveyMonkey we conducted an online survey of over eighty university undergrads to find out their awareness of online security issues. Don’t miss the video interview of Assistant Professor Cecil Chua of Nanyang Business School; he talks to us about issues like identity theft on the net and the use of online sources for making school projects. As more and more people are shifting to internet banking, phishing has become a major area of concern. There could be no one better to talk about this than a person who deals with such issues as a part of his work. We interviewed Mr. Charly Ong of Citibank Singapore who talked to us about the various measures his bank is taking to protect its customers from being phished online. |
Shopping on e-bay, buying books on Amazon, booking movie tickets, making airline reservations – undergrads seem to be using their credit cards quite a lot on the internet. But are they aware of the risks involved? We decided to find that out. Not using the boring old way of handing out a paper and pen, we thought of capturing people’s responses on camera. Undergrads from the United States, Singapore and Indonesia display their awareness (or the lack of it) about phishing in the video compiled by us.
The only site in Bahasa Indonesia in ThinkQuest
The eighth most spoken language in the world, the sole official language of the world’s fourth largest country by population; one would think there would sure be a substantial volume of online information in Bahasa Indonesia. Unfortunately, it is not true. Although there are more than 200 million people speaking this language, the number of websites catering to Indonesian speakers is quite less. With two native Bahasa speakers in the team, we decided to contribute in our own small way to the Indonesian e-movement. The Bahasa Indonesia version of each page is a product of manual translation by our team members. |

After all we are the Credibles, and being true to our name, we could not have used any free translation tools from the net; so all that you see is a result of hours of hard work.
You read up on the credibility of online information from our site, now wouldn’t it be fun to see how much you know? Try out the quiz that we have put up. It sure is a fun way to brush up on facts and trivia.
We have also created a printer friendly version of each page on the site. CSS does not render well for printing, but we did not want that to be a hassle if you want to print out an article that you like.
Want to tell us something? Got some suggestions for us? We would love to hear from you. Due to the restrictions on using any server side scripting such as PHP or Perl, our Contact Us page allows you to mail us through your default mail client.

Our website also caters to the needs of people with poor vision. Using JavaScript, we have provided functionality that allows the text size on each page to be increased or decreased according to the user’s requirement. Our website is CSS W3C compliant and will render correctly on Opera, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari. Doesn’t matter what browser you use, you can enjoy our website for sure. |
So what’s stopping you? Use the links on the left and the menu at the top; and let the Credibles tell you what to trust (and what not to) on the internet.
