Currently, there is no preventive treatment for Down Syndrome. Children who are born with Down Syndrome can be helped by undergoing different therapies. Some of the therapies include speech, physical, and occupational. The type of treatment given depends on the physical and mental problems which the child has. Children with Down Syndrome may have a problem with loose ligaments. During regular activities, a bone can be dislocated. If a child has this problem, he may need physical therapy.

One of the greatest problems associated with Down Syndrome is with speech. Children with speech problems will undergo speech therapy. Occupational therapy is somewhat similar to physical therapy. This type of therapy deals mainly with motor skills, such as social ability, walking,etc..., necessary for functioning in society.
