Just like the disorder is different for everyone, the diagnosis is different for everyone as well. There is no cure for TS, nor is there a medication to control it. There are medications to help control the tics if they become severe enough to interfere with the person’s life.
If the tics become severe, especially with children, the doctor will probably refer the child to a psychiatrist because the disorder can cause a person to become extremely depressed. A psychiatrist will help the child handle his stress and teach him some relaxation techniques.
