Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome is an extremely rare genetic disease that affects a child’s aging rate by increasing it seven to ten times faster than normal. The term "Hutchinson-Gilford" was named after two English doctors, Jonathan Hutchinson and Hastings Gilford, who were the first doctors to diagnose the disease in England.  The word “Progeria” literally means “early aging” or “prematurely old” in Greek. It is not known to affect any particular race or ethnicity but randomly targets its victims from the world's entire population.
