The Hispanic people are now playing an important part in our society. Their hardworking habits have rubbed off on many Americans and now these Americans understand that to keep their jobs they have to work hard as well. The current United States population is 290,000,000 and 37,000,000 of that total are Hispanics. From 1990 to 2000 there has been a 106% increase in the number of Hispanics in America. Since 2003, Hispanics have overtaken African Americans as the largest minority group in America.
Most of the Hispanics that arrive in America are Mexican. In fact, 66% of all Hispanic immigrants emigrate from Mexico. The Hispanics are pouring in so quickly that it is estimated that soon Latinos will make up a quarter of the population in America. Before recent years, most of the Hispanics went to live in Texas, Florida, and California, but now many of the Hispanics are pouring into Georgia. Some even call Georgia the “New Ellis Island.” From 1990 to 2000, over 748,000 Hispanics came to live in Georgia.
