Do you ever wonder why so many animals die in the ocean? One reason is the pollution in the ocean.  Discarded plastic is one main culprit. Every year many sea creatures mistake a plastic wrapper for food, eat it, and choke to death.

This situation gets worse every day. Along the beach there are many signs saying, “Throw your trash where it belongs and not in the sea!” but many non-locals just do not think before they act and are responsible for killing innocent sea creatures by throwing garbage into the sea.

Another way that disposal of garbage is affecting the creatures of the sea is boating. When some boaters go out to fish, they throw their trash into the sea. The trash then sinks to the bottom.  A fish comes along, thinks the plastic is food eats it, chokes, and later dies.
