Western Wall

The Western Wall, also known as the Wailing Wall, is in Jerusalem. It's 160 feet,(length) and 60 feet,(height) with 24 stone layers(in height). The stones on the lower layers are larger than the higher ones. It used to protect Temple Mount, and is now the only thing left of the temple. It's sometimes called the Wailing Wall because Jews wail over the hardships they faced aroud the time of the destruction of the temple. Today, Jews pray at the wall, but women have to pray away from men, and vice versa. The wall became a main site to pray at about 700 years ago. Many boys and girls want to have their bar/batmitzvahs at the wall. A tradition is that Jews write their prayers on small pieces of paper and stick it between the wall blocks. The Western Wall is holy to Jews and sacred to Jerusalem.
