The word dormition is Latin for sleep. Christians believe the Church of dormition is where Virgin Mary fell asleep forever. It is on top of Mount Zion, which is outside of the Old City of Jerusalem. Catholics believe that after Virgin Mary fell asleep, she was then carried up to heaven, body and soul.
