Easter

Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, but what does the Easter bunny and the eggs have to do with Jesus? Actually, nothing at all. Scholars are even saying that the name “Easter” comes from Scandinavian "Ostra" and the Teutonic name “Eastre” both are the names of Goddesses that have to do with spring. The eggs represent sunlight while the bunny represented the vegetation. Now what happened was that Christians used Easter and turned it to a religious celebration that resembles the Jewish Pesach, or Passover. Now, Easter is celebrated using both traditions even though most people do not notice the religious part. Easter is on a certain date every year. It can be from March 22 to April 25. Easter ends the Lent season, 40 days where Christians do not eat meat and/or stop doing something they enjoy. The last week of the Lent also known as the holy week has many important events. Palm Sunday got its name from the day Jesus entered Jerusalem and palms were laid at his feet. Then comes Holy Thursday, which is to celebrate the Last Supper. Finally, on Friday Christians celebrate the crucifixion of Jesus, a sad event that is recovered on Easter the day of his resurrection. If you really look at it, Easter for the Pagans and Christians is almost the same thing. Pagans celebrate that winter is over and that spring will bring the happiness back along with its flowers. While Christians celebrate, that Jesus has resurrected and that they are once again protected bringing happiness as well.
