In the Renaissance times it was not exactly called gunpowder, it was called black powder. They were invented in 1040 C.E. They were more destructive weapons afterwards such as artilleries like cannons. They were weapons used to surge other castles and obliterate other opponent’s armies. Guns were not that high fashioned in the Renaissance period because mostly in that time frame was a warriors and knights possessed sword. The closest thing to a gun is probably a bow and arrow or cannon.
