Another major sport in Africa was wrestling. Wrestling and stick fighting were often grouped together, which could mean that the same people took part in both sports. Wrestling matches between Nubians and Egyptians served as entertainment for pharaohs, advisors, and other people of high position. Wrestlers were looked upon with respect. Many paintings in tombs serve as evidence that people wrestled in ancient Africa.
