Who are the Terrorists: Introduction

Intro

Terrorists are people who spread terrorism to other people. They commit crimes using bombs and guns, killing thousands. Osama Bin Laden is the leader in the 9/11 attacks and planned all the hijacks. Saddam Hussein is the other terrorist that caused the Gulf War by entering the oil-enriched Kuwait. When he entered, world economy was in danger, because Saddam would take it and add it to Iraq’s oil. They are very dangerous, and aren’t to be toyed with.

About Saddam Hussein

Saddam Hussein was born on April 28, 1937, in Tikrit, Iraq. He was the dictator of Iraq from 1979 to 2003. In 1979, he became Iraq’s president and de facto dictator. During his rule, he led Iraq into a 10-year war with Iran and used his forces to invade Kuwait, a nearby country. It started the Gulf War, which drove out Saddam Hussein’s troops, but he still had power over Iraq. The United States overthrew Hussein’s regime and made him lose his power to rule. After this happened, Hussein escaped, but was later captured on Dec. 13, 2003. For about 2 years, Hussein has been having trials for each of the crimes he committed. One crime he committed was the arrest of thousands of religious people who were against Hussein’s regime, and killing hundreds of them. He also sentenced Ayatollah Mohamad Baqir Al Hakim, the leader of the SCIRI, the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq, to a life in prison. Another crime was that he arrested, tortured, and executed a few scholars and Islamic activists. He has also arrested hundreds of Iraqi Islamic activists and killed five religious leaders in 1974. One other crime he committed was that after the Persian Gulf War, Shiites and Kurds created a rebellion against Hussein’s regime. Iraq killed many Shiites. Marsh Arabs helped the rebellion, and this leaded to their death and the destruction of their towns. Because of this, Hussein destroyed so many marshlands, that there are only a few marshlands left. Obviously, he isn’t environmentally-friendly.
