Geography [Great Wall of China][Slave Trade][Working Conditions][Geography][Audience] China’s geography is mainly made up of mountains, deserts, and flat, hilly lands called plateaus. To the southwest is the Tibetan plateau, the world’s highest plateau. To the south are the Himalayas, home to the world’s tallest mountains. Elevations drop between 6,560 and 3,280 feet in grasslands and the Gobi Desert. The coast in the east drops to 1,500 feet in elevations. They grow much food here. There are deserts such as the Taklimakan Desert, the Tian Shan range, and an oasis called the Turpan Depression. They are all turned towards the north of China. China’s rivers help carry silt away from China’s shores. China’s climate changes dramatically throughout the year. Winters carry temperatures that go down to negatives, while summers carry weather up to three digit numbers. Autumn and fall are the only relenting seasons for China. China brings weather for the strong. The map below shows the population of China. This helps because if you find the ratio of people who were slaves to civilians, you would find that out of 190,000 people, 2,000 people were slaves. This all affected the world because China is a large place. Also, this benefited to society because after the Civil Rights Movement, China became the Republic of China under Communist Rule. These reasons show why China influenced the world of slavery.
