Working Conditions [Great Wall of China][Slave Trade][Working conditions][Geography][Audience] Most Chinese immigrants are forced to work as slaves in labor factories. The living conditions do not suit what a normal person needs to survive. Slaves are forced to work 16-17 hours a day, when the legal limit is eight hours. Corn and noodles are the only source of food there, which makes it incredibly hard to continue to work. High expectations are put for very little money, almost always less than one dollar. On top of that, slaves are not allowed to sleep until their goal for that day is completed, sometimes making them work through the night. Temperatures soar to over 100 degrees, and they have to deal with chemical odors, dust, and extreme noises. They also have to deal with toxic glues, often without gloves. However, without all these serfs and slaves to do all the dirty, dangerous, unwanted jobs in China, China’s economy and wealth would not be the same. These poorly treated slaves make up more than 50% of China’s wealth, which is hard to believe from the way they are abused and neglected.
