Introduction to the Geography of Africa

Africa one of the largest continents on Earth known for its vast deserts and wide variety of animals,is one of the most amazing continents.Not much is known about Africa even though it has so many facts.Like how it covers 11,700,000 square miles of land.

Major Rivers and Pieces of Land

Africa the second largest continent in the world reaches up to roughly 11,700,000 square miles.The tallest point in Africa would be Mt.Kilimanjaro in Tanzania reaching 19.349 ft. tall.While the lowest point in Africa would be located on the eastern side of Africa,Lake Assal in Pildati 512 ft. below sea level.There are many deserts in Africa but two ofthe greatest are the Sahara and the Kalahari desert.The Kalahari is in a dry rainless region in Africa toward the south.The Sahara on the other hand is to the north and in fact its the greatest desert in the world.Although Africa has many rivers the most famous are the Nile,Niger,Zaire, and Zambez river.

The Largest Country of Africa

Well the title says it all Sudan is in fact Africa's largest country.It is toward the north of the country and resides in between Egypt and Erithea.It is about a quarter of the size of the United States.It is mainly flat with mountains to the north.Sudan's capitol is Knarton.
