Text Box: Ice Ages# Text Box: Most people think the definition of an ice age is a period of time when earth was completely covered in ice. According to the scientific and dictionary definitions they are not altogether correct. The scientific definition states that an ice age is a period of history on the earth when large glaciers covered parts of some continents. However, the dictionary states that an ice age is a period of cold with times of large amounts of glaciation alternating with times of warmth.
