How Soccer Was Invented
Around the world soccer has been played for a really long time. In fact, no one is really sure when it was first played. One of the earliest forms of soccer was traced to being played in Japan in 1004 B.C. It was played by kicking a ball around a small feild. However, a museum in Germany has Chinese text from about 50 B.C. that mentions a game that sounds similar to soccer. The game was played by kicking a hair-filled leather ball. In 611 A.D. in Kyoto, Japan, the game they described was definitely soccer. Rome's early Olympic games had records of the game played so fiercely that almost all the men had to be hospitialized. In England, the king disliked the game so much he made laws saying nobody was permitted to play it. Even the laws could not stop people from playing. Now soccer is a bigger sport than baseball, football, and basketball combined.
