Obesity is one of the greatest risk factors for type two diabetes. That’s why type two diabetes is becoming so popular. A lot of children have type two diabetes because they’re over weight. Age is another common risk factor for type two diabetes. Surveys have shown that people ages 65 and older have a higher risk of type two diabetes. Another great risk factor is family genes especially in first cousins. Sometimes pregnant women with diabetes before pregnancy have a greater risk factor and have been known to develop type two diabetes five to ten years after birth. One of the lesser risk factor is heavy alcohol consumption and smoking addiction.
