What is Global Warming?

Global Warming refers to the increase of the earths average temperature.

What is causing Global Warming?

Scientists think deforestation is one of the main problems. The burning of fossil fuels like coal and oil releasing greenhouse gases is another main problem.

                                          What is Deforestation? 

Deforestation is when too many trees get cut down. More than a million trees get cut down each week. That doesn't help Global Warming because trees soak up carbon dioxide and greenhouse gasses. Those gasses aren't good because they cause holes in the ozone's and start to warm the earth. Read more in the Deforestation page.

What are Global Warming Effects?

The ice around the north and south poles will melt. This will cause the sea level to rise, and then many animals and humans will lose their homes. Then everyone will move inland. Then inland will become dry. The  farmers won't have proper farming conditions and land so we will lose many crops. Many plants and animals will become extinct. There will also be sever storms and floods.

What do scientists think?

Scientists that study climate don't know how fast or how much the earth will heat. They do know that if we don't try to stop it the effect will be very bad. They also know that we can't completely stop Global Warming but we can slow it down. Some scientists think the   Global Warming will never become better.
