Alternative Sources of Energy
(Why do we need alternative sources of fuel?)

fossil
Oil, gas, and coal are nonrenewable sources of energy known as fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are formed by the remains of animals, plants, vegetables, and minerals that lived millions of years ago. Believe it or not, this process took 500 million years to produce the oil we now use!  According to one source, we humans have used an enormous amount of fossil fuels at a rate 50 million times greater than the rate at which they are formed.  (Energy Alternatives by Gabriel Cruden).  What will we do when all the fossil fuels are gone?

Our webpage will talk about alternative sources of energy that can help all of us be less dependent on fossil fuels.  These alternative energies include geothermal power, hydropower, solar power, and wind power.
