How to make the ID: pointed at both ends with a fuzzy mass at one end, torpedo-shaped. The adult is aquatic, looks like a beetle.

Its Color: Larvae is grayish. Adult is black.

How it reproduces: deposits eggs on plant materials under water.

Metamorphosis: Complete

Its food: diatoms and algae

Indicator: ample oxygen supply, fast moving water.

Size: less than 1/2 inch.
