How to make the ID: the shell opening is on the left-hand side and the point is straight up and the opening faces you, does not have gills, has a sac-like lung so they can breathe air

Its Color: brown, gray, black, sometimes with algae growing on the shell

How it reproduces: gelatin-like egg masses are deposited under rocks or debris

Metamorphosis: None

It is food for: fish, birds, and some turtles

Its food: algae, other aquatic plants, sometimes dead animals

Indicator: poor water quality and nutrient enriched conditions

Size: up to 1/2 inch
